Translation Works

Published the translation of Samaresh Basu’s story ‘Pari’ in an international journal. Translated Purnendu Patri’s Rabindranather Shakespeare (Collection of all the comments of Tagore on Shakespeare) and Bankim Chandra’s Sakuntala, Miranda O Desdemona and Tagore’ poem ‘Kheya’  (Balaka: Poem No. 37) and some others. At present translating Hudson’s An Introduction to the Study of Literature, A Short History of English Literature, Famous Bengali poet Jasimuddin’s epic Sojan Badiyar Ghat and Basanti Geetika (Collection Bengali folk songs meant for dance performance). Published Dalit Songs and Poems in English Translation (jointly edited). Now working as translator-editor of Sri Sri Harilailamrita and Satabarsher Bangla Dalit Sahitya. All the verse translations aim at bringing to light the plight of the downtrodden and at communal harmony.

 

Teaching Experience

Teaching as Assistant Professor of English in West Bengal Education Services, for 16 Years (At present serving at Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Govt. College, New Town, Rajarhat, North 24 Pgs., in the capacity of Associate Professor and Head of the Department of English. In the classroom and outside the classrooms the highlighted area is always the positive side of religions, especially Christianity as it is the integral part of the teaching area e.g. Paradise Lost.

Honorary Services

Underwent rigorous military training at Officers’ Training Academy and awarded the title ‘Lieutenant’ and thereafter worked as Associate NCC Officer at Acharya B.N. Seal College, 13 Bengal BN. NCC, for eight years. Participated with the NCC cadets, in mob control, traffic control, Blood Donation Camps, Mobile Blood Bank, AIDS awareness programme, Anti-drug drive, plantation, Yoga, Training camps, Adventurous programs like trekking, parasailing etc. In those years more than 100 NCC cadets were given special free coaching and so, they got job (mainly in armed forces), who otherwise might not get any job. Most of them were first generation in higher education. Gave free coaching to the ex-students, irrespective of their racial identities, for job and most of them are now service holders. Still now giving free coaching to the financially weak students.

Professional Membership

Life member of Bangla Dalit Sahitya Sangstha which aims at the upliftment of the downtrodden people. Member of the Editorial Boards of two international journals.
